Overview:
This is an extremely fun board for waves from waist high to overhead conditions. Ridden 1-2 inches smaller than your traditional performance short board, the slightly fuller outline of the Hybrid allows you to catch waves extremely easily and is very loose in the pocket. The Hybrid performs best in 2-6 ft waves in all types of conditions.
Board Specs:
The Hybrid has a lower entry rocker and a wider outline than most conventional short boards. It has more volume and a slightly fuller nose that runs into a swallowtail for extra whip off the lip. The bottom has a large single concave running into a slight vee in the tail and the wide point is further forward to skate over flat sections, but with more tail kick, so it stays tight in the pocket when turning hard off the lip.
Ideal Wave Size:
All conditions for intermediate to advanced surfers.
Key Features:
- Slightly flatter bottom curve for increased speed and planning
- Fuller nose for increased paddle power
- Curvier outline for looseness
- Carbon construction utilising Active Stringer
- From as light as 2.4kg
- Features a 5-fin system for Tri (three fin) or Quad (four fin) setup
- FCS II fin boxes with conversion kit
- Comes without fins
Tech & Features
The patent pending internal ACTIVE system creates performance through flex.
The flexibility of the board is adjusted by using different fiber orientations, carbon strengths and outer/inner foam core densities. These elements fine tune the board’s ability to flex and return.
The ACTIVE system features a laminated STARFLEX carbon corecell stringer. The stringer is suspended through the center of the board between two high memory polypropylene layers. This acts like a dynamic spring allowing the shell laminate to flex freely but preventing hyperflexion under extreme load.
