full carbon in ACTIVE CARBON.

ACTIVE CARBON

Starboard Surf 2016 | ANACONDA

Overview:
Starboard’s take on the Tomo revolution and is rapidly becoming the favorite alternative board in the world. It has a clean straighter outline allowing the board to perform in all types of conditions. The Anaconda is designed off the premise that boards don’t need a nose outline and, in fact, if we chop the nose off, the board will perform equally as well as one with a nose. The concept is simple, the board is loose and extremely fun to ride.

THE CORE
Flex Carbon is built from a stringer-less traditional Polyurethane foam (PU) core. Starboard has played around with a variety of different densities of foam depending on the desired weight, flex and compressional stability. By having a traditional PU foam core, we have been able to match the flex components of a traditional build by removing the stringer and perfecting the use of different fiber patterns.
CONSTRUCTION
In order to find the key to achieving a flex pattern that is equal and in some instances better than that seen in a normal PU Board, our development team underwent a rigorous testing process to find the perfect combination of fiber orientations, carbon strengths and outer/inner densities. With the introduction of this unique technology comes the launch of three progressive shapes: Black Magic, Flying V and Anaconda.

Starboard Surf 2016 | FLYING V

Overview:
The Flying V is a modern rendition of a performance fish and is rapidly becoming the favourite alternative board for the R&D team. It has a clean wider outline, putting fun back into those small wave sessions. The Flying V is a simple redo of the classic fish shape that is simple, loose and easy to ride.

Board Specs:
This board has flatter rocker throughout the whole outline. The bottom consists of a deep double concave combined with big V in the tail allowing the board to release when needed. Ridden a few inches smaller than your traditional short board.

Ideal Wave Size:
Designed to be ridden in small to medium surf for entry level, intermediate and advanced riders.

Key Features:

  1. Fish outline rendition
  2. Flatter rocker throughout the whole outline for increased speed
  3. Extra width for planning and lift through flat sections
  4. Big deep double concave combined with big V in the tail

Active-Inside
The patent pending internal ACTIVE system creates performance through flex.
The flexibility of the board is adjusted by using different fiber orientations, carbon strengths and outer/inner foam core densities. These elements fine tune the board’s ability to flex and return.
The ACTIVE system features a laminated STARFLEX carbon corecell stringer. The stringer is suspended through the center of the board between two high memory polypropylene layers. This acts like a dynamic spring allowing the shell laminate to flex freely but preventing hyperflexion under extreme load.
EPP-Compression

Special thanks to Jonathan Le Marchand and photographer.

Starboard sup 2016 Hypernut test wave

Starboard sup race all star 2016 preview

L'intera gamma è stata presentata all'OUTDOOR RETAILER 2015.

Grazie a Jim Brewer per averci regalato queste super preview.
